My wife and I are white. We adopted our wonderful African American children at birth. We strive daily to help our son grow up to be a confident, proud and loving black man and our daughter to be a confident, proud and loving black woman. I hope our experiences will help others who are doing the same.

East Lansing Black Parent Union

I received this survey today. I'm not sure if I received it because I have black children or if every parent of children in ELPS received. I completed it and in the blank question asked if white parents of black children could be member of the East Lansing Black Parent Union. I will let you know what I found out. Because I don't know the surveying methods I didn't copy the zoomerang survey website. If you are interested, I believe you can get contact information from the ELPS. If you get a contact please post it, I'll do the same after I call tomorrow.

--------------------------------

The East Lansing Black Parent Union recognizes that strong, continuing family and community involvement in all aspects of school programs and activities provides support for measurable improvement in student achievement.

We would like to know your opinions on how well your child(ren)'s school has met your family's and children's needs and how you feel about your involvement and/or the involvement of other parents at the school.

Your answers will be confidential and will be combined with those of other parents in a report of the survey findings.

Your input is very important. Findings of the survey will be summarized and used to gauge how parents of all students connect with the school that their child(ren) attends.

The survey should take approximately 5 to 10 minutes to complete.

Please click on the link below to start the survey or highlight and copy and paste the link into your web browser. Thank you.

  1. I happen to know that survey went out to everyone. The "leader" of the group was at the last DPC I attended. He is a great guy who has strong great ideas. I was very impressed by him. The group started the survey and then Chapin found that the questions applied to everyone and were questions they wanted answers to so they sent to the whole population of ELPS. I *think* he said everyone is invited to meetings. Good luck!
