My wife and I are white. We adopted our wonderful African American children at birth. We strive daily to help our son grow up to be a confident, proud and loving black man and our daughter to be a confident, proud and loving black woman. I hope our experiences will help others who are doing the same.

37 Parenting Skills for Raising Successful African American Sons

I checked Barnes and Noble and Amazon but could only find used copies on Amazon.  If may be out of print.  Let me know if you find a better source for this book.

In honor of African American Heritage Month, California professor and community activist Dr. Marietta W. Scott will bring her wit, wisdom and experience to Trinity A.M.E. Church on Friday, February 19, 2010 from 6:00-8:00 P.M. to discuss the time honored ways she has used in raising African American young sons. She is the author of the book entitled I Brought You in This World: 37 Parenting Skills for Raising Successful African American Sons.



Everyone with children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, teachers, principals and friends are encouraged to attend. The event is presented in cooperation with Lansing-area chapters of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., The Lansing-East Lansing Chapter of The Links, Inc. and The Greater Lansing Chapter of Jack and Jill of America, Inc., Event is hosted by Dr. Eva Evans of Lansing .
